From Internship to C-Suite: Climbing the Ranks in the Energy Industry

AABE DC's mission is rooted in building a pipeline for minorities who wish to pursue careers in Energy and other Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ("STEM")-related fields.  In order to further our mission of diversifying and increasing representation of minorities in our industry, AABE DC facilitates the Black Energy Awareness Month ("BEAM") Program. Our BEAM Program provides outreach to youth in our local community by engaging them in interactive programming designed to inspire both vocational and academic interests related to STEM and Energy.  For example, in both 2017 and 2018, AABE DC partnered with Project SYNCERE, to host events where we engaged more than 100 Washington DC high school students in an engineering design challenge that utilized skills in both mechanical and electrical engineering.

This year we are expanding our BEAM program to incorporate a separate virtual college event.  The event will consist of a panel discussion and breakout rooms to discuss various topics to help participants advance from an internship to the C-Suite.  The themes for the event include internship, mentoring, leadership and exceling in the energy industry.
